Completing the FAFSA application forms allows you to be considered for financial aid. In addition, states and colleges use FAFSA information to award their own grants, scholarships, and loans. If you do not submit you FAFSA by the required deadlines, you may miss out on funds that will help you pay for college.
Important Dates:
Each college may have its own deadline. Be sure to check with the college you are attending or interested in attending. Also make sure to ask the definition of an application deadline. Is it the date your form is processed or the date the college receives your processed FAFSA data?
State deadlines:
The State of Michigan deadline for filing for FAFSA is coming up shortly, please remember to apply by May 1, 2021. This date has been extended from March 1, 2021
Federal deadlines:
For the 2020-2021 school year, you can begin filing for FAFSA October 1, 2019 to June 30, 2021. The federal deadline for submitting is 11:59pm CT on June 30, 2021. Any corrections or updates must be submitted by 11:59pm CT on September 11, 2021.
For the 2021-2022 school year, you can file anytime from October 1, 2020, to June 30, 2022. Once again, applications must be submitted by 11:59pm CT on June 30, 2022. Corrections or updates must be submitted by 11:59pm CT on September 10, 2022.
