Last night, the Michigan Legislature finalized changes to the Earned Sick Time Act (ESTA, HB4002) and minimum wage law (SB8). Those changes were sent to the Governor’s desk. Gov Whitmer signed the bills today, Friday, Feb. 21.
These Bills didn’t repeal the laws going into effect today Friday, Feb.21, rather trimmed back those sweeping changes.
The Michigan Chamber of Commerce published a good summary of the two Bills this morning. See: https://www.legislature.mi.gov/documents/2025-2026/billenrolled/House/pdf/2025-HNB-4002.pdf
Actions we recommend:
- Review the two Bills (see links below) and determine how they will impact your business group.
- Contact your attorney or HR Consultant to see if they will be hosting a webinar over the next several days.
- Attend the Michigan Chamber of Commerce 2/24/25 webinar. (register HERE)
- Revise your HR Manuals for these changes.
